I am registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as a Data Controller.

What information I collect

I collect relevant personal date so that I can provide you with a professional therapeutic service and to meet legal requirements.

The records I keep include your name, address, email and phone numbers, plus a record of your attendance at sessions, your invoices and your payments. Sometimes I keep brief notes on our sessions as well as summaries of our work together, both in anonymised form.

I may ask for your GP details and occasionally other relevant health professionals in case you ever have a medical emergency. I would only contact your doctor with your permission.

Who can see this information

I make every effort to keep this information confidential. All my records, both on paper and those help electronically are stored securely.

To ensure good professional practise, I consult with colleagues about my work. However I take good care to protect your confidentiality by disguising personal details and making sure that such presentations are anonymised.

No personal information is passed on except in the very rare situation where you might be at risk to yourself or others or there are safeguarding concerns. In this event there may be a necessity to make contact with someone such as your GP.

I am required by my registration body (British Psychoanalytic Council) to have two professional colleagues who can take over my practice if I suddenly become incapacitated. These colleagues would have access to your contact details, and you would have the opportunity to meet or speak with them if this was necessary.

Your rights

You do have the right to see any information I have about you. You also have the right to request for your details to be deleted at the end of our work.

How long will I hold your information?

I will keep relevant information for tax purposes for the time required by HMRC (currently 7 years).

I will keep other information about you for no more than seven years from when your treatment ends.
